Pimiento Cheese Spread Southern Recipe

pimiento cheese spread

Do you say PIMENTO cheese or PIMIENTO cheese spread? It doesn’t matter, because whatever you call this classic southern cheese recipe, it’s plain delicious, and super easy to prepare. Mama Redbuck made a pimiento cheese spread, and then I made a jalapeno cheese spread, so check out both dishes and let us know which you like best.

Pimiento Cheese Spread Ingredients

8 oz freshly shredded YELLOW CHEDDAR CHEESE
4 oz jar of PIMIENTOS
2-4 Tbsp MAYONNAISE (to taste) …and yes, you can check prices for mayonnaise on Amazon
BLACK PEPPER (fresh ground pepper is nice)

How to Make Classic Pimento Cheese

  • Shred the yellow cheddar into a mixing bowl, and definitely use freshly shredded cheese for this spread!
  • Drain the pimientos and add them to the cheese.
  • Add mayonnaise one tablespoon at a time and mix until the spread reaches the consistency you prefer.
  • Add black pepper to taste. Freshly ground black pepper is ideal for pimento cheese spread.

Jalapeno Cheese Spread Ingredients

8 oz freshly shredded WHITE CHEDDAR CHEESE
10-15 pickled JALAPENO slices (to taste)
MAYONNAISE (to taste)

How to make Jalapeno Cheese Spread

  • Shred the white cheddar into a mixing bowl. Use freshly shredded cheese for this spread! Check here for current prices for a Box Grater on Amazon.
  • Drain the jalapenos and add them to the cheese. I like to use whole jalapeno slices, but you can chop them if you like. It won’t make a difference, the pepper cheese spread will be just as spicy either way, so I suggest leaving the slices whole, because it makes the spread look better.
  • Add mayonnaise one tablespoon at a time and mix until the spread reaches the consistency you prefer.

And that’s it! Two very tasty and easy to make cheese spreads. These quick cheese dishes are great on crackers, in a sandwich, and as a dip for sliced veggies, so give each one a try and let me know which you prefer! And for another tasty spread idea, check out this Spicy Egg Salad Recipe.
